HomeBack from a trip
Back from a trip. Did anything come with you?
Bed bugs travel in luggage, not on people. The first week home is when they leave the case and look for a bed. That is the week to count.
Park the case beside the monitor
Leave the suitcase closed on a hard floor next to the monitor, not on the bed. Anything inside that is looking for a host walks toward the lure, and the corners count it.
Check in for three mornings
Tap Back from a trip in the app and open it once on each of the first three mornings. Zero on all three means the case is clear and the clothes can be unpacked as normal.
If there is a count
Bag the contents, wash hot and tumble dry. Leave the monitor where it is. A count that stops is a problem solved. A count that continues means the room needs treatment, and you found out in week one rather than month three.
Then leave it under the bed.
The lure lasts a year and the box has nothing printed on it, so most people leave it in place after the trip and check the app now and then. The next trip, the next guest, the next second-hand chair: the count is already running.
